Sarasota County voters might consider themselves bleeding RED conservatives. But under the leadership of Jack Brill, MAGA Republicans are being suspended and excluded from the Republican Party of Sarasota. By purging MAGA from within the membership of the local Republican Executive Committee, Jack Brill and his board continue to remain in power, in the ultimate example of Election Interference.
Although Sarasota Florida is synonymous with beautiful beaches, the leadership within the RPOS is synonymous with failures throughout the years. The beautiful city of Venice lost both city commissioner seats to liberal democrats in 2022, even after the city fell prey to a drag queen strip tease event in downtown Venice.
The Pride event even included a dildo ring toss game for kids! Residents were understandably concerned about the public indecency, yet RPOS chair still couldn't drive enough voter turnout to keep two Venice City Council seats conservative.
During the 2024 Primary election, Brill failed once again to drive the turnout in support of our Sarasota County School Board. That's right, during a historical Presidential election year, Sarasota lost BOTH school board seats to out of state, liberal Democrats. This has left many in the Sarasota County area searching for a change in leadership, much like the RNC's recent change in leadership. The loses suffered at the hands of Ronna McDaniels led the way to a change in leadership, and victory followed with the addition of Whatley/Trump as co-chairs. In order for Sarasota to keep our conservative values, a change at the helm of the RPOS is necessary.
Just as in every other county in Florida, Sarasota elected precinct committee men and women to represent them to the local party. During the December meeting, however, Jack Brill would not allow almost a third of the REC members in to the meeting. Elections were being held for the new board in the Republican Party of Sarasota, and Brill new that MAGA Republicans wouldn't tolerate his failed leadership any longer. In cooperation with the Republican Party of Florida Chair Evan Power, MAGA was excluded from the meeting due to an erroneous suspension and grievance claim that has NOT been corroborated. No grievance has been shown for the members who were not allowed in, and no due process was allowed prior to banning them from the meeting. What's worse? The voters voted in the very people that Brill and Powers are trying to ban.
The Chair of the RPOF, Evan Power, enacted a new rule that says, in part, that any club wanting to use the name Republican or the elephant logo must first get his permission- AND-local REC members cannot have a membership in another group that Evan Power deems to be in violation of state statute.
That's a lot of oligarchy talk to those of us who bleed red white and blue. While Evan is allowed to pencil in his own rules on the matter, he cannot violate state statutes in the process. Here is where Mr. Power let 'power' cloud his judgement.
Florida Statute 103.81 says that organizations in existence MORE THAN 10 years in Florida are exempt from what Evan Power is trying to do. Those who are being purged from the party have dual membership with the Florida Republican Assembly, which has been in existence in the State of Florida much longer than 10 years. According to FS 103.81, Evan Power has wrongly suspended and threatened many in the Republican Party- and those affected will not go away quietly.
For starters, the Florida Republican Assembly formally endorsed Donald J Trump in the presidential primary here in Florida. The RPOF Chair Evan Power wanted Trump to sign a 'loyalty oath' to appear on the Florida ballot. However, after a powerful rally organized by FRA members across the state, Power lost that vote at the RPOF's official meeting. MAGA Republicans have long had dual membership with both the RPOF and the FRA, and that is why Evan Power is so intimidated by Assembly members.
Please consider joining your local party, and represent your precinct through the Republican Executive Committee in your area.
